What Would You Do If Your Father Came Out As Gay?

Responses range from “I would not accept it” to “Great! It would be a great surprise!” (we all had our suspicions of that dad) when people across Europe are asked to respond to the hypothetical situation of their father’s coming out of the closet. (Video below)

What about you, dear KDians? How would you react if your father came out as gay to you?

Most gay men would be relieved by a gay dad. lol. But I know of some gay guys who’d have a problem with their sons coming out as gay.

A lot would actually be upset/relieved at the same time and I think most gay people(In Nigeria ) would always choose to have a straight son if given the choice.

    Oh, it’ll be joyful news!

Until you think what this might mean for your mum. Does/did she know? Has she been happy? Or is she devastated?

    Ehen.

My Dad is over 60 – which means my mum is not a small girl. I’d rather wish that kind of news away.

I’ll be upset and won’t talk to him for maybe a week or two( for not coming out sooner and not educating me about human sexuality from a very young age). Yes I’ll be upset.. All the headaches and trauma could’ve easily been avoided with a little direction and support from a gay dad.

I was thinking they would all be accepting since they are from more “civilised” climes. Compared to a time in human history (future, I hope), when there will be true global enlightenment, we ALL are still in the stone age,

I have always felt my father was a gay man and maybe obviously turned straight wen he got married….. Sum certain reactions towards me. Like wen i had this issue in skul with a senior. And my dad defended me to the one with my cousin and d rampant questions mumsy asked me about being gay and pops will tell mum to let me be. Also my dad gestures a bit… #justsaying

I’ll probably puke in his face.. Esp if he also reveal he is bottom. I’ll probably faint at that point.

Puke not because he is Gay but because he lived a lie.

To be honest, I have been asking myself this question. My dad has this friend, they do business together so they get to travel and stay in hotel rooms…hmmm…and you should see when my dad calls him, he sounds all calm and all…God have mercy on me…just yesterday…he was like “maybe now that you are in unilag, you would be bringing your boyfriend *after a long pause* and girlfriends home” … Could it be in my head?,,,and to think his friends children and us are quite close…

When i was small, there was this married man, overtly feminine, walked with swinging arms, while his waist swayed in reckless abandon.. He had 5 kids, 3 cute boys and 2 girls…..
I was same age with his eldest son who is an engineer now, i remember we made jest of him abt his dad being more feminine than the mum….He was usually apoplectic with rage, i heard the 2nd son is grown and gay now, he was the cutest of the 3 sons, dark and had that Lance gross looks….
This story seems like something that will befall the family pretty soon….
